On the other hand, the lap variations make it next to impossible to accurately measure setup optimization, I still think there's a high probability that each % changes pace by around 0.006-0.014s/lap but I'm leaning closer to 0.007s/lap. Since each level scales by 5% (5,10,15) that would suggest that each level is worth around 0.083s/lap. My current guesstimate is that lvl 3 tyre trim and quali/race trim each improve pace by around 0.250s/lap. Only use the tire settings for very fine tune adjustments, remembering that they will have opposite effects on handling/gearing So say you had Poor downforce, you would want to make a 1.2 degree adjustment to BOTH wings, with Good handling, you would want to move your suspension by 2 ticks. Tire camber/pressure: two ticks of pressure change ~equal one tick of camber change Gearing: Gears by one tick, for every two ticks moved Helpful rule of thumb I've found for setups, for every "grade" you are below Excellent (Very Poor-Poor-Ok-Good-Great-Excellent), adjust like this: If you wanted to be more efficient, it's semi-cheaty, but you don't even need to run a lap, you can send your drivers out, then bring them right back in on their outlap so they don't even get a time. ![]() So if you get up to 90%, then focusing on ensuring trim boost is probably better. So, setup does make a significant difference in the race, of approximately. Went out and ran some laps, and came around with a 1:42 flat, so a full second lost. Then I just demolished the setup, turned the wings all the way down, made the suspension rock hard, and turned the gear height up to Everest, accomplishing a 0% setup. So specifics of your setup don't mean a damn thing to lap times, only the lines matter. Then I did a wing test, cranked up the rear wing and lowered the front wing, and futzed with the other knobs to get the 3 lines back in position, went out and ran a fast lap of.1:41 flat again. Went out and ran a fast lap of 1:41 flat. Just tested at Munich with a setup that I managed to get the elusive 100%. ![]() I was curious as well how much setup setup makes a difference.
